TREEGENES IS NOW CARTOGRAPLANT
TreeGenes originated from the Dendrome Project in the mid-1990s as one of the first USDA ARS genome databases, built to centralize genetic resources for forest trees. As the platform expanded to include genomes, transcriptomes, population data, and environmental metadata, a key gap emerged: the ability to integrate genotype, phenotype, and environmental (GxPxE) data in a spatial, population-level framework. CartograPlant was developed to address this need, providing a modern, map-based interface for integrated analysis of georeferenced populations, traits, and genomic data. It now serves as the primary platform, maintaining a focus on forest tree populations while housing critical GxPxE datasets not well represented elsewhere. Today, visiting treegenesdb will redirect you to CartograPlant, now the exclusive destination for plant population data.

INTEGRATING PHENOTYPE, GENOTYPE, AND
ENVIRONMENTAL DATA FOR GEOREFERENCED PLANTS
ENVIRONMENTAL DATA FOR GEOREFERENCED PLANTS
| Long-lived and sessile plant species serve as ideal models to assess population structure and adaptation to the environment. Despite the availability of comprehensive data, the researchers who study them are challenged to integrate data describing genotype, phenotype, and the environment. Towards this goal, the web application CartograTree (now known as CartograPlant), was designed and implemented as an open repository and open-source analytic web-based framework for all three. | ||||||||||||||||
